About Fat Cat Silver

I love using organic material in my work, taking inspiration from the natural environment and animal world. Fine silver leaves always feature in my collection, but I have been known to cast seed heads, feathers, petals, snake skin, dragonfly wings and even whole butterflies in silver. I also create my own moulded castings using metal clay and silicone or delft clay techniques.

When I started making jewellery I decided from the outset to use only quality materials such as sterling silver and fine silver and semi precious gemstones. This meant a rather expensive hobby had to become a business, and I started selling through local market events.

I make my jewellery at home in my kitchen, using a simple set of tools, and fit Fat Cat Silver around my job working in a Design Technology department at a local school, and looking after my two children and three cats. After a long day at work I relax by tinkering with silver whilst listening to music. Sadly, the original Fat Cat is no longer with us, but his legacy will live on through my business.
